RANK AND PROMOTIONS

Responsibilities of nobles: First of all only nobles and the high council can promote members, this will be done when both the noble and the High Council are in agreement. Nobles can promote to the level below their current one, however will never promote someone to noblity. Secondly, a noble will provide for the members of their court in various ways-

1. When a pageboy joins a court, they will receive a weapon that cons yellow to them from their noble. When they are promoted to squire they will receive a piece of jewelry that cons yellow to them, and when they are promoted to knight they will receive a full set of armor that cons yellow to them. Dependant upon various factors the High Council may help in funding requirements for nobles having hard times.
2. Nobles will create a new quest for their court members to partake in each month. The rewards and particulars of these events will be left up to the noble, but all details will be reported at the first of each month to the high council to ensure that the quests are indeed being made and offered to their court members.

Nobles will accrue members for their courts by getting who they recruit. We have set a limit of approximately 40 active members in the guild currently so recruiting may be actively pursued up to that point. For members who are already in the guild, but have no assigned court, you will be given the choice of which court you would like to join. Finally, no members will be allowed to serve a noble who is lower in level than them. Currently this will not pose a problem as all nobles are level 50, but it may become an issue in the future.

Having said these things, if it is your desire to lead in the guild and become a noble, the following are the baseline requirements set forth by the high council for attaining those higher ranks and the lower ranks as well.

THE HIGH COUNCIL

The high council rules Immortality.  Every Councilor has a different task. The council performs all governmental tasks. The Council will also react on the reports of Dukes with advice and seldom with orders. The council will validate any promotions, promotion always has to be accepted by the Council before they can be officially granted. A Councilor can also recruit and if he recruits a member he is given the choice about which court he will join. Some quests can only be completed under the supervision of a Councilor.

Promotion: To be promoted to the rank of Councilor, firstly a vacancy must exist. In the event that there is a position left vacant within the Council, the remaining Council members will decide amongst themselves who they would most like see fill that position.

As pageboy status is seen as the first trial period of the new member. As pageboy members have limited rights. After a brief period pageboys either choose to serve another liege or become squires in our clan. Pageboys can not talk in alliance chat and can not wear the clan emblem.

Crusader (Templar)
The crusader is a member who joins an army to free part of original shire of Immortality , our former home. Because of his/her absence the crusader will not be counted as an active member. However when the crusader returns he/she will immediately receive his/her previous rank of Knight. Only Knights may go on 'crusade' if a higher rank is involved he/she will demote back to Knight. The council will decide which members can become crusaders but amongst other things the following reasons may be valid; RL sickness which makes it impossible to play for a while (longer then two months) , RL family tragedy and other serious RL problems that makes play impossible. An other reason can be a very important member who has done much for the clan in the past that for whatever reason is not active enough to be counted as a full and active member. Once every two months the crusader has to report to the council that he/she still wants to stay a 'member' of the clan. It is not allowed to be a crusader and be a member of another DAOC clan or guild, either on the Tristan server or any other server.. Failing to uphold these rules will result in the 'death' of the crusader in his/her attempt to free the land. In times of war the crusader will/can come back to assist the clan as protecting the clan may be more needed then freeing our former home. The crusader may wear the clan banners and have any other right a normal member has although he/she may NEVER be promoted while on crusade. Please note that this rank in the ONLY rank that you cannot strive for yourself but will be only obtained through by discretion of the council
Marriages:
When a member reaches the rank of knight he/she has the right to wed anyone of that rank and higher. When the spouse has a higher rank the Knight will get the higher rank. But naturally he/she will not get a court of their own. The couple lives in the same court. Therefore when both are knights they must serve the same noble. When one of them has already a court the couple will live in that court. When the marriage is between 2 nobles the couple will live in the higher court. The court of the lower noble will be abandoned. But off course when the couple divorces ,the noble with the lower court will get the land back. When the couple divorces ( The higher rank will play on in our clan) the original rank will be given back( or the leaving party must have earned enough points her/himself to hold on to that rank). When the higher rank leaves the clan or stops playing DAOC the lower in rank will hold on to the higher rank. When the marriage concerns a Duke the couple may not check each other's quests. Its not allowed for the the council to marry as it potentionally unbalances the independence of each councilor. However a Council Guard may marry as soon as his/her spouse is also a knight or higher. However a Council guard may not check his/her spouses quests and there will be no rank changing. So each partner will hold on to his/her rank. Needless to say because of the feudal role-play it is forbidden to marry a clan member of the same sex. All weddings will be evaluated by the councilor of clan-activities and the councilor of internal affairs. Furthermore a member may not marry another member when they are already married to another member of our clan or an other clan. Even if this member uses another alias to play with or uses two aliases at the same time.
Elder:
People that were a councilor once but not anymore will be given the rank: Elder. If the ex-councilor still games and has an in game rank it will show both ranks on the forum. However, the Elder rank can never be lost. An Elder can be a crusader as well. His title will be Elder then as it takes precedence over the crusader title . If a councilor does not game at all and is no crusader like in actives he/she can use the ~E[I] on game forums or any other game division forum.

An Elder has the Elder rank as long if he/she is inactive in a specific game. As soon as an Elder goes active again, he RETAINS the honorary rank elder but can choose the following. 1. He becomes a CG is there is an active CG division. 2. He becomes a BARON and gets a court. In BOTH instances he keeps the Rank Elder. However when applicable  his active tag will reflect the in game title.

The "rights" of an Elder is to give advice to the council when needed. The title gets no real power in the clan, but of course people that are elders have to be respected by the members for their past efforts. There will be made NO distinction between how long someone served, who he/she was and the circumstances of leaving (one exception can be made if an ex-councilor did harm the clan).

When an Elder comes out of retirement he/she will be given a nobility title of Baron due to his/her former contributions to the clan if he/she so desires. However any other title can be given to Elders in cooperation with the Council, at the High Council's discretion.
